Talking Finances with EverSource Wealth Advisors

Money and investing is always a hot topic. We keep tabs on the stock market, constantly search for ways to get rich, spend way too much money on gambling and lottery tickets to try and win, and live or die by how much is in our bank account. Money controls much of our decision making, and it made us wonder if we are asking the right questions or creating the best goals. We sat down with Shawn and Tyler at EverSource Wealth Advisors recently to discuss how we should view money and what wealth really is. Our three takeaways from that conversation are below.

My 3 Takeaways from This Conversation

Have the Tough Conversations About Money

Ask your parents about things you need to know when they die or become disabled. Have a plan in place for yourself for when you die or are possibly disabled. We don’t like talking about death, which is inevitable. And we’ve all heard stories, or been part of the story where a loved one dies and nobody knows how to access their funds or what they did with their money. Or a loved one becomes mentally incapacitated, and you need access to their money to help provide for them. So many of these stories are preventable if you have a plan in place, and your loved one has a plan in place. Plan for the future.

Financial Planning and Wealth is About Peace

Piggybacking off of the previous point, creating a plan is all about peace-peace for you and others who care about you. You can’t account for everything that will happen in your life, but you can try to head off a lot of it by doing financial planning. Wealth is also not about a dollar amount. Many people set goals for how much money they want to have-sometimes to have a identity of being a millionaire or rich. But those goals aren’t useful for life and will leave you hunting money for the rest of your life. Sitting down and planning out what type of retirement you want, place you want to live, how much you want to leave for an inheritance, and more create a holistic picture of what amount of money creates peace in your life. Maybe for you it is the ability to pay for new appliances if they go out, to be a snow bird and live in Florida in the winter, or be able to leave a job without anything else lined up. Peace means something different to everyone. Take time to plan for peace in your life!

Trust the Experts

Our society has become highly distrusting of “experts.” But I have found in my life that trusting the experts helps me become better. As a business owner, I learned to give up things I thought I had to be good at to be a business owner. I found an accountant, lawyer, and others to fill in the gaps of my knowledge. Trusting a financial planner who’s trained and highly knowledgeable and who I know will help me work toward my goals is what helps me be able to do what I do best and build peace in my life.

If you’re looking for financial peace in your life, Shawn and Tyler will treat you right and help you on your road to financial wealth. Listen to the conversation above and then give them a call!
