What to Expect at a Home Inspection
You’ve put your offer in on a house, and it’s been accepted. Congratulations! The next step is a home inspection and at this point you may be stressing out. You may have heard stories from friends about their inspections or are worried about what will be found in your dream home. We get it. So, we sat down with Ben Grooters from Alert Inspection Services, LLC to talk about what to expect at your home inspection.
- The document will be huge. Every inspection document is large because your inspector checks every detail of the house to find anything that is an immediate or future problem. It can seem intimidating or depressing to read your dream house has some problems, but the size of the document doesn’t mean that your house is a bad buy. It’s because your inspector is thorough.
- Not every item is a big problem. There are some problems that are immediate fixes, whereas others could wait a little while. Some safety issues may even be easy fixes as well. If you go on the inspection, your inspector may give you ideas to fix the issue and recommendations on contractors to help you out.
- Trust your agent. If you’ve become discouraged and saw some large problems that you weren’t expecting, trust your agent to negotiate for you. They will work with the seller’s agent and you to create a plan for fixes between both parties. They have your best interest in mind and will work hard to make sure you get a good deal.
While an inspection may seem scary or nerve wracking, it shouldn’t be. Our team will be here the entire way to help you before and after your inspection with any questions you have.
