5 Events for July Fun in West Michigan!
July is here and summer is well underway! In West Michigan, that means more festivals, outdoor events, and activities that only happen in July! Check out what we think are the 5 events you can’t miss!
- Berlin Fair: July 3-8. Fair season has begun! Arguably one of the largest and most famous fairs in West Michigan, Berlin Fair is a fun event for the whole family! There are your classic fair events like livestock shows, horse shows, carnival rides, and food as well as big events like Motocross, a Demolition Derby, Rodeo, and more! Each day has a different schedule, so plan ahead what you want to see. If you miss the Berlin Fair, the Ottawa County Fair takes place July 25-29 and has an equally packed schedule!
- Wings Over Muskegon Air Show: July 7-9. Muskegon welcomes back air shows! A popular event for several decades until 2008, this year is the inaugural Yankee Air Museum Aviation Experience. There won’t be any of the big jets like the past, but there are still some really unique aircraft that have played a huge role in the history of American aviation! For airplane history buffs and lovers, there will be A10s, P51 Mustangs, and a MIG 17F plus more! There are opportunities to ride in some of the planes and get up close and personal from the ground. We’re looking forward to more events like this in the future!
- Cherry Festival: July 1-8. Speaking of festivals and airplanes, Cherry Festival in Traverse City is a must-attend event! Michigan is one of the top cherry growers in the world, and Traverse City is the main area where they are grown. This event is a celebration of that and has quickly become one of the largest festivals in the country with around 500,000 people visiting during the event! There are carnival rides, air shows, concerts, competitions, and more happening over the 8 days of the event. Check out their website to find all of the details!
- Grand Rapids Foodie Fest: June 30-July 2. Bring your appetite to Calder Plaza for this 3-day food fest! 50+ food trucks and booths from the Great Lakes States will have you salivating as you walk around! There is live music, dancing, local merchant booths, and more on top of all the delicious food!
- Coast Guard Festival: July 29-August 6. While technically probably more of an August event, it does kick off in July, so we’re putting it here. This is one of those blockbuster events of the summer in West Michigan! Celebrating almost 100 years of honoring our Coast Guard personnel, the festival is known for carnival rides, the cardboard boat race, the parade, and especially the fireworks drawing thousands of people to Grand Haven! It’s definitely a must for West Michigan festival.
